Music
'Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.'
(Music Programme of Study – DfE 2013)
At Cawston Grange Primary School we aim to provide our children with a variety of musical experiences from which they can learn to appreciate and appraise an eclectic mix of musical pieces from different genres, historical periods and artists from around the world. Through these opportunities, we hope to inspire children to create their own music and explore how their voices and instruments can create various sounds that can be altered in pitch, tempo and dynamics. They will learn to play and sing a diverse range of songs and pieces from other artists as well as compose pieces of their own. This will then lead to opportunities for them to perform to others in order to celebrate achievements and develop their confidence as musicians.

They did it without music first and then decided they needed music to make it more authentic... we watched both as a class and learnt about 'tempo' - how fast or slow music goes!
