Bumblebees SRP

Our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) opened in September 2025 offering 8 places for primary-aged children with needs linked to communication and interaction.

At the heart of our SRP is the belief that every child deserves to feel valued, supported and able to flourish. We create a nurturing environment where children can develop their confidence, build positive relationships and achieve their potential.

Working closely with families, staff and external professionals, we ensure that children in our provision benefit from both specialist support and opportunities to be part of the wider life of our school community. We celebrate individuality, embrace diversity and encourage children to learn, grow and thrive together.

Whether you are a parent, carer or professional, we hope this page helps you find out more about the exciting opportunities we offer.

Our Learning

At Bumblebees, we celebrate every step of progress, however big or small it may seem. Each child’s journey is unique, and we are proud to recognise their achievements in all areas of learning and development.

Our curriculum is built around engaging themes that give learning meaning and purpose. From these themes, we plan carefully to meet each child’s individual needs, guided by their EHCP targets.

The main focus for pupils in Bumblebees is developing communication and interaction. We support children to build friendships, work alongside others and take part confidently in school life. The academic curriculum acts as a vehicle for practising these skills, helping children to share ideas, take turns, listen, collaborate and reflect.

We know that children learn best when they feel calm and secure. Our timetables are designed to balance access to the National Curriculum with individualised opportunities, ensuring pupils’ needs are met. Sensory activities and structured routines are built in throughout the day to support regulation, reduce anxiety and help children feel ready to learn. Visual supports, clear boundaries and consistent expectations further support pupils to manage transitions and engage successfully.

Partnerships with families and the wider school community are central to what we do. Parents are kept informed through our Padlet platform, where staff celebrate successes and share children’s learning. Families are encouraged to collaborate on this too, letting us know about the wonderful things their children achieve outside school.

Bumblebees aims to be a welcoming, inclusive provision where children can thrive, feel valued and enjoy being part of our whole school.

School Life

Children in Bumblebees are part of a linked mainstream class, and where appropriate they may join their link class for lessons, activities and trips. They also enjoy special experiences planned just for Bumblebees, giving them the best of both worlds.

Our timetable is flexible, so every child has the right balance of support in Bumblebees and opportunities to be included with their class. This means children can take part in fun learning, whole-school events and memorable experiences, while still getting the specialist help they need.

We are proud to be part of our school community and love seeing Bumblebees pupils learn, grow and share in all the exciting opportunities school life brings.

Admissions

Admissions to Bumblebees are managed through the County’s specialist panels, not directly through the school. To be considered for a place, children must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), or be in the process of applying for one, with communication and interaction identified as their primary need. Children should also be able to access the mainstream curriculum, with appropriate differentiation and support according to their age and stage.

If a child is being considered for admission, we work closely with families, current schools and other professionals to plan a personalised transition. This may include visits to meet the child in their current setting or at home, as well as opportunities for the child and family to visit Bumblebees. Our aim is to make the move into our provision positive, consistent and tailored to each child’s needs.

When offering places, we also take into account the needs and balance of the existing cohort, to ensure every child in Bumblebees is well supported and able to thrive.
