OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning)
At our school, we believe that play is an essential part of every child’s development and wellbeing. That’s why we are proud to be part of the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme, a nationally recognised approach that helps schools transform playtimes into rich, purposeful and joyful experiences for all children.
OPAL is based on the idea that great play leads to great learning. Through a carefully planned and continually evolving play environment, children have the freedom to explore, create, imagine and take appropriate risks. Whether they’re building dens, digging, dressing up, or inventing new games, every child can find something that sparks their curiosity and supports their social, physical and emotional growth.
We do OPAL because we know that play matters. It helps children build friendships, develop problem-solving skills, grow in confidence and resilience, and return to class ready to learn. By giving children more time, space and freedom to play, we’re investing in their happiness and their futures.
Our playgrounds are places of adventure, creativity and laughter — because learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom.
